From Wikipedia.org:
Many portions of the Wonderland tales can be tied only to sheer whimsy, and while Carroll's life observations do make themselves obvious from time to time, it is possible that "The Walrus and the Carpenter" is not one of them: Carroll's character The Duchess said in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland that "everything's got a moral, if only you can find it".Go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Walrus_and_the_Carpenter
So why is the platypus (which I think is a bundle of cuteness) the only venomous mammal?
4 comments:
that is because that despite it being such a cute creature, the platypus has sharp claws in its flippers that are venomous! One kick, scatch can actually paralyze and even you.
I know how it is venomous. The original question was why. :P
nature's way of survival!
It isn't. Types of shrew, the solenodon, and the slow loris(a primate, in fact) are all venomous/poisonous. (difference between venom and poison isn't really defined all that well- def. of venom is "the poisonous fluid that some animals, as certain snakes and spiders, secrete and introduce into the bodies of their victims by biting, stinging, etc."; while a poison is any substance that is harmful when taken into the body. By this unclear/loose definition, actually, their is one semi-poisonous mammal that almost everyone forgets about-the skunk. Its spray can cause skin irritation and temporary blindness when it hits eyes.)
